Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe

Talk about being caught off guard.

I HATED this song when I first heard it – but yet here I am, weeks on, loving it with every ounce of my being.

This song actually brightens my day.

No matter how commercial, how POP, how overplayed, or how repetitive this song may have seemed in the beginning  – I CANNOT get enough of it.

The simplicity that Carly Rae Jepsen gives to the topic of falling in love, the way she takes away the depression, heart ache and anguish, and reminds us what it was like to be a young girl with a crush is genius.

It’s simply wonderful.

Whilst I love a good love ballad, tearing at the heart strings, emotive, depressing but brilliant song as much as the next girl, sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that we are all kids at heart, and that life is beautiful.

This songs takes me back to the days of Aaron Carters ‘I’ve Got A Crush’, Hanson ‘MMMBOP” and songs of the like.

It really is a blast from the past in the present.
